With Rifftrax: http://www.rifftrax.com/rifftrax/inception
This was my second time watching the movie, my first time watching it with Rifftrax.
The movie concept itself is very interesting. These people are able to get into dreams to extract information from people's minds. The plot of this is to do the reverse and get into a person's head to plant an idea. Interesting idea and setup, some of the characters are good. The effects are really nice.
Unfortunately I didn't like the direction the movie ended up taking. It went off track of the basic plot and instead put its focus on DiCaprio's character's drama with his dead wife who haunts his (and whoever's head he's in) dreams. I personally did not find this plot interesting.
Also unfortunately, this time around I was so tired that I ended up kind of falling asleep during the movie. During the big exciting buildup to the climax. But honestly it wasn't doing much for me anyway. Very pretty movie and worth a watch, but just not quite my thing.
As for the Rifftrax on it... pff, I was so tired I can't remember. I'll have to watch it again sometime. Sorry!

Feb 5, 2011 - Death Warmed Up (1984)
IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089002/
Warnings: Violence, language, sex
What is this, I don't even.
An Australian movie about a man, Michael, who's brainwashed into killing his parents by a doctor in New Zealand (I think) running a weird asylum. Doctor creates weird sort of superhuman people. Michael later goes on vacation with three friends and JUST HAPPENS to find the asylum through some underground tunnel system they thought would be cool to explore. Superhuman people try to take over everything, Michael decides to track down the doctor and kill him. Everyone dies.
I cannot tell you how much I laughed at this movie at inappropriate times. It was just that ridiculous. Badly lit, bad story, bad characters, just... hilariously bad. I really cannot expand much beyond that. At least they probably had fun making the movie.

Feb 3, 2011 - The Fury of the Wolf Man (1972)
IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065750/
Warnings: Some Blood
This is a Spanish werewolf movie. It's about a college professor whom, during a mountain expedition, is attacked by something while the rest of his party dies. He was bitten by a werewolf and thus, upon the full moon, becomes one. He puts his trust in a couple of his female colleagues to try to cure him, but one seems to have other plans on how to exploit his curse. The other is too useless to do anything about it.
This is one of the slowest paced werewolf movies I recall seeing. Though the general premise could be interesting, the pacing, character development and plot throw in a few unnecessary loops. The villainess is actually out to use scientific knowledge her father left her to control the human brain to make people behave the way she wants them to. This is explained vaguely without any real sort of attempt at showing proof for the suspension of disbelief, aside from some staring at and whipping of the werewolf.
She keeps him and their other colleague locked up in her castle home, and at one point, some clumsy editing splices in film from another werewolf movie the lead actor did, of him escaping and running around town killing random people (except for one girl he seemingly pops into bed with for a moment, then leaves a scene later with her alive, IDEK). Despite this, once the villainess has left him and their other colleague alone for a while, they are unable to find any way to escape the castle fortress.
The movie just ends up being rather silly and it's never really clear WHY the woman wants to mind control a werewolf, but she fails or course, because really, the werewolf is more of the hero in this movie. Though that doesn't keep him from meeting his own sorry end.
Not a good movie if you really want to see exciting werewolf action, but good for a laugh if you enjoy making fun of continuity issues, some bad dubbing and big eyelashes.
Memorable Quote: "This is all very dangerous."

Feb 2, 2011 - Kick Ass (2010)
IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1250777/
Warnings: Language, Lotsa Violence, Short Sex Scene
Kick-Ass is a movie about a regular high school, nerdish boy (Dave/Kick Ass) in New York who decides to become a superhero. This movie is rather contradicting as A. It puts for the idea of "superheroes" in a realistic world and B. It's very unrealistic. It's meant to be humorous in a way.
The storytelling narrative itself is interesting, most of it is Dave's narrative. In one part, two of the characters' backgrounds are explained in a 3D, pop-ish, comic book art style, which is rather amusing and clever, if you disregard the convenience of it. Anyway, interesting storytelling - go.
Some of the characters were interesting too, but the one who was obviously (set up to be) the most fun was Mindy (Hit Girl), an 11 year old girl who loves weapons, talks tough, and has no qualms about killing bad guys. Honestly, I would have rather the movie be about her. Her father and mentor, Damon (Big Daddy) probably deserved some more development as well. Also, his costume was a bit too Batman-ish for me.
The anti-hero, Chris (Red Mist), would have been more interesting to me if he had changed sides, instead of been a sort of naive cliche. His father, Frank, a mobster crime boss running under the guise of a lumber company, was the villain. And really, the only thing I liked about Frank was his manner of speaking.
In the end, though pretty and sometimes amusingly outlandish, the movie mostly chalks up to being some fanboy's superhero fantasy.
Worth at least one watch, I guess. If you like comic book sorts of things.
Memorable Quote: "With no power, comes no responsibility. Except, that wasn't true."

Intro Post
I thought I'd make a little blog to ramble on about the random movies I watch as I watch them. There will be various types here and no real rhyme or reason to what they are, aside from the fact that many of them may be old public domain crap. That's about it.
